Laura Currie
Curated by: Laura Currie
"I would encourage emerging artists to think beyond their medium and be open-minded as to who they collaborate with and how the work manifests itself."
Laura Currie is a serial entrepreneur and doyenne of direct-to-consumer business, with a penchant for making high style and culture accessible to all. She is the founder of Prospect - an online retailer that collaborates with top-tier contemporary artists to create limited-edition, collectible art & design objects; and co-founder of Pet-à-Porter - a new shopping destination for the most stylish pet in the neighborhood. Following a series of roles that fused art with luxury brands - including an internship launching a collaboration between photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto and Hermès - she became aware of a desire among the young professionals in her cohort to own notable artworks without breaking the bank. Prospect - the name an homage to her time living on Prospect Street in Washington, D.C. while studying at Georgetown University - was launched in 2016 with a T-shirt by Baron Von Fancy, reading ‘BABE’ in the artist’s signature typeface. It has since launched collaborations with not only top-tier artists like Judy Chicago, Nir Hod, the Haas Brothers, and more; but with global brands such as The Standard Hotels.
